The overall cost of the camping pod is only just one part of a range of other expenses which need to be factored in when budgeting for a pod. Other costs which may need to be considered in your budget include :
Planning Permission
In some circumstances camping pods for home use can be installed without planning permission. However, in the event that you do need to make an application to your local planning authority for permission this can be a costly and time consuming exercise before making the payment for your camping pod.
Furnishings
Before your new pod is constructed you’ll need to discuss with the manufacturer to ensure that your pod has everything you need. From the basics of doors, windows and flooring to fully fitted kitchens and bathrooms, these can substantially increase the price you were expecting to pay depending on the scale of your pod project.
Delivery Costs
Most manufacturers will calculate the delivery costs as a set price per mile based on the distance from their workshops to your destination. Most pods are delivered ready made so there may be costs involved in improving the access arrangements to the site so the pod can be safely delivered.
Utility Bills
Depending on where you plan on siting your new camping pod you may need to extend or install access to water and electrical points. Solar panels could potentially be installed on the roof of your pod to reduce the cost of bills in the long term, but would mean an upfront payment at the outset.
Future Transport
If you need to move your pod around occasionally removable wheels, purpose built chassis or tow bars may need to be purchased depending on your pods configuration; or if this isn’t possible a small crane or hiab lorry will be need to be hired.
Financing
Many pod manufacturers have arrangements with financing companies who can offer loans to cover the payment of your pod. Although the purchase of a camping pod can be recouped by a rental income, the repayments and other fees need to be considered.
